Lady Wildcats start season 3-0

The Abbeville Lady Wildcats were on a two game winning streak, to start the season, heading into the game against Ascension Episcopal on Saturday.

The Lady Wildcats did as they have done in the previous two games, and just dominated.

This time it took some timely hitting in the late inning for the Lady Wildcats to pull it out.

Abbeville trailed 4-2 heading into the top of the fifth inning, and that is when the bats came alive for the Lady Wildcats.

The Lady Wildcats would go on to score three runs in the top of the fifth, sixth and seventh innings to beat AES by the final score of 10-4.

Emily Schexnayder led the way for the Lady Wildcats, by coming in and pitching the final three innings, and shutting AES down.

Schexnayder pitched an almost flawless three innings. She allowed only one hit and struck out five of the 10 batters she faced.

The Abbeville offense had 13 hits in the game, and of those 13 hits, eight came from four players.

Angelle Dominge, Brandi Pedigo, Daijah Phillips and Taylor Choate all went 2-4.

Domingue and Choate had a single and a double.

Pedigo’s two hits were doubles, while Phillips’ hits were both singles.

The Lady Wildcats will be back in action Thursday, as they take on Westminster Christian.
