Lady Wildcats start season with a victory

The Abbeville Lady Wildcats got their 2014 softball season started the best way possible, with a win.

The Lady Wildcats faced off against the Gueydan Honey Bears on Tuesday night, and came out with an 8-4 victory.

It was a close game after the first inning, as both teams were able to plate two runs.

It was the second and fourth inning that really put the Lady Wildcats in the lead for good.

Abbeville was able to score two runs in both the second and fourth inning.

The Honey Bears would try to make a game of it by scoring runs in the fifth and sixth innings, but the Lady Wildcats would score two insurance runs in the top of the seventh to seal the game.

The Lady Wildcats were led by Angelle Domingue, who went 4-5 from the plate.

Domingue had two singles and two doubles.

Alex Lege and Daijah Phillips each went 3-5.

Lege had two singles and a double, while Phillips’ three hits were all singles.

Caitlyn Hebert and Alexa Frederick each had a double and a single for the Lady Wildcats.

Ashari Terry, Mya Vincent and Cheyanne Lacomb each went 2-4 and had two singles in the loss to the Lady Wildcats.

Abbeville is back in action today, as they take on Lafayette Christian at Pelican Park at 4 p.m.
