Abbeville Police release sketch of armed robbery suspect
Abbeville Police are continuing an investigation of an armed robbery that occurred Monday night in the parking lot of a local restaurant.
On Thursday, the Abbeville Police Department called in a specialist from the Louisiana State Police to compose a sketch of the suspect involved in the robbery.
The incident took place at approximately 9 p.m. in the parking lot of New China on the La. 14 Bypass.
The suspect is described as a black male in his late teens or early 20s. He is approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall and slim in size and dark skinned. The suspect also has large round and protruding eyes, with high prominent cheek bones. He is also described as having slight facial hair.
Abbeville Police obtained video of the suspect after he allegedly robbed a woman Monday at gun point near her vehicle. The suspect took off with the woman’s purse after she threw it on the ground. A child was in the backseat of the vehicle.
Police gained video of the suspect as he fled on foot. Officials obtained the video from multiple businesses in the area.
Another subject believed to be involved in the incident also fled the scene on foot. Police were unable to get a description of the second subject because he stood at a distance from the alleged suspect and victim.
Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact the Abbeville Police Department Criminal Investigations Division at 893-2511.
