Lighthouse sends three teams to championship

The Soaring Eagles of Lighthouse Christian Preparatory School will be traveling to Monroe to represent Abbeville in the 2014 ACCEL State Basketball Championship.

The junior varsity team, coached by an alumni Elijah Bolden, leads the playoff with a perfect record of 6-0.

While the Lady Eagles trail with their best season record of 8-1, coached by Samantha January and assistant coach Tirone Montgomery Sr.

The varsity boys with a record of 12-0, coached by Morgan Spraggins and assistant coaches Aidain Broussard and Donnie Bolden Jr, will compete to bring home a well deserved 1st place state title.

The competition kicks off on Friday at 12:30, with the battle of the junior varsity teams.

The varsity boys will follow at 3 p.m. and the Lady Eagles at 5 p.m.

All games will be played at UL Monroe’s Fant-Ewing Coliseum on both Friday and Saturday.
