Hero Hunt Rabbit Hunt looking for Vermilion Parish veterans

Maurice resident Troy Coleman and other Vermilion Parish resident have orchestrated a ‘Hero Hunt’ Rabbit Hunt for any veterans this weekend in St. Landry Parish.
The hunt is on Saturday and veterans interested in taking part can contact Troy at herohunts@live.com.
Thus far, Coleman said there are 22 hunters from Acadiana lined up for this weekend.
“It is open to more veterans, “ said Coleman. “If any veteran is interested, email me by Thursday.”
Coleman said the veterans have to supply their own gun, ammunition and orange vest.
Guides will supply the dogs to help locate the rabbits on 35 acres. Hunters have to be at the location by 5:30 a.m.
“There are veterans who wanted to give something back. Many veterans have never been duck, deer or rabbit hunting. This gives them that chance.”
Coleman, 27, said veterans who are paralyzed have been on hunts with HeroHunts. Men and women veterans are encouraged to make the hunt, he said.
If they can not make this weekend’s hunt, Coleman said there are hunts lined up until April.
Helping make this possible are a group of local guys, he said. Helping with the hunts and future fishing trips are brothers Richard and Murphy Guiilbeaux, Scott Toups, Justin Fontenot, Warren Whaley, Aaron Trahan, Damon Vincent and Craig Harmon.
