Vermilion Parish public and private schools cancelled on Friday

Vermilion Parish public and private schools have elected not to have school on Friday due to the weather.
School officials made that decision just after 2 p.m. on Thursday.
Forecaster are predicting another arctic blast to arrive in southern Louisiana tonight.
Although the chance of precipitation still remains low for Acadiana (near 30%), there will likely be periods of light sleet, freezing rain or light snow across Southeast Texas developing Thursday night and spreading southeastward Friday.
Winter Storm Watches have been issued for Southeast Texas westward to the Texas Hill Country for the possibility of accumulating frozen precipitation that could make for hazardous road travel there.
In Louisiana and Acadiana, moisture fields are expected to be much drier, so at this point just some non-accumulating light snow flurries, sleet or freezing rain/drizzle will be possible...but as we have been advertising, the risk of measurable precipitation remains low, near 30 percent.
