North Vermilion student asked Rep. Boustany if he will run for U.S. Senate, Vitter's seat

He did not rule it out

Some Civics students at North Vermilion High School did not hold back when they asked U.S. Rep. Charles Boustany questions about what is happening in the world.
Boustany spoke to the 150-plus sophomore students and then took questions from some of them.
The first question Boustany fielded was if there is a possibility he would run for U.S. Senate in 2016 now that U.S. Sen. David Vitter announced he will be running for the Louisiana governor’s seat in 2015. Sen. Vitter made the announcement Tuesday morning.
“Right now I am really focused on my job,” Boustany responded. “I will take a look at that (running). It is in 2016 and there is still a little ways to go. I am honored that people have considered me.”
Boustany said after hearing the news about Sen. Vitter on Tuesday, he was not ready to decide if he will or will not run. He also did not rule it out.
“I will take a look at it,” he added. “It is a big step. You do not just jump into something like that without thinking about it.”
Boustany has been a U.S. representative for 10 years. In 2012, he beat Jeff Landry in a runoff election. after redistricting. District 3 is made of nine parishes, including Lafayette, Iberia, Cameron and Acadia parishes.
