Pre-K, Kindergarten registration dates set

Kindergarten and pre-kindergarten roundup for Vermilion Parish schools for the 2009-2010 school session has been scheduled.

All children are required to successfully complete kindergarten prior to entering first grade.

For the 2008-09 school year, the entrance age for kindergarten is five years old by Sept. 30, 2009.

For Pre-kindergarten, the entrance age is four years old by Sept. 30, 2009.

The following documents must be presented at the time of registration are:

•Birth Certificate - from New Orleans Vital Statistic.

•Completed/updated immunization record.

•Social Security card of the child.

•Proof of residency, electric bill and one of the following - gas bill, rent receipt, proof of ownership (homestead exemption) or homeowners insurance.

• Proof of Income, for Pre-K. Last two check stubs or 2008 Income Tax return.

•Pre-kindergarten programs are now offered in all elementary schools in the parish.

The student must accompany their parent to registration.
