Lady Cats steam-roll Lady Tigers

The Lady Wildcats were able to even their season record at 3-3 with a big, 61-23, victory of the Jeanerette Lady Tigers.

“It was a good win for morale,” Abbeville Head Coach Dean Dronet said. “We needed this win. We needed to come out here and play some of our best basketball and we did just that.”

The defense came out and played a good game for the Lady Wildcats. They only allowed six point in the first two quarters.

The third quarter is where the offense picked up its game. In the first half the Lady Wildcats were only able to put up 21 points, but in the third quarter alone they scored 25.

A large portion of the offensive output in the third quarter came from Barbara Bryant and Arrayia Starland, who collectively scored 15 points in the third.

Leading the way for the Lady Wildcats was Timia Briggs, who scored a team and game high 15 points. Bryant also added 10 points.

Starland put up nine points, seven of which came in the big third quarter.

Next up for the Lady Wildcats is Acadiana tonight as they take part in the Acadiana High Tournament.

“We have scheduled a bunch of tough teams upfront,” Dronet said. “I think doing that will make us a better team in the end.”
