Shooting in Abbeville; man who got shot was arrested after he left hospital

Five days before Mardi Gras, there was a shooting in Abbeville. The good news is that no one died. The bad news is that the Abbeville Police Department could not confirm who did the shooting because the person who was shot told police he was not sure who shot him. The crazy news is that the person getting shot was arrested by the Abbeville Police Department after he left the hospital.
Around 7:15 p.m. on Thursday, someone from the Live Oak Manner Apartments heard gun-fire in the apartment complex and called the police. After questioning people in the complex, the police were unable to find anyone who saw the shooting.
About 45 minutes later, another call came into the police station about another shooting, not far from the Live Oak Manner Apartments. A person living on Green Street told police he heard someone knocking on his door and then he heard multiple gun shots behind his house.
When the Abbeville arrived, they could not find anyone with guns but they did locate multiple bullet casings in back of the house on Green Street. The police also discovered an old car behind the house had bullet holes.
Police, a few minutes after the shooting, discovered Deonzae Lee on Lamar Street with a single gunshot wound in his forearm. Lee was treated by Acadian Ambulance and brought to a local hospital.
Lt. David Hardy said detectives went talk with Lee in the hospital about being shot in the forearm. Lee told detectives he did not know who shot him and did not want to file charges.
However, after being released from the hospital, the police discovered there was a warrant for Lee for a parole violation. He was arrested by detectives and booked into the Vermilion Parish jail.
Lt. Hardy said if anyone knows anything about the shooting, they can call police at 893-2511.
