Vermilion/Municipal Task Force arrests Abbeville man
According to Sheriff Mike Couvillon, the Vermilion Municipal and Sheriff’s Narcotics Task Force made the following arrests for narcotics related offenses within the parish.
On Tuesday, Feb. 16, agents with the Vermilion Parish Narcotics Task Force began an investigation into Jamie Vallery, 27. It was determined that Vallery had active warrants for his arrest. Agents conducted surveillance on Vallery and upon him arriving at a residence in Abbeville, with the assistance of the Abbeville Police Department Detective Division he was taken into custody without incident. Upon being arrested, Vallery was found to be in possession of several illegal narcotics, a firearm and a large amount of currency believed to be derived from drug proceeds. Vallery was arrested and charged with the following Felony offenses:
· Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule I, (Synthetic Marijuana)
· Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule I, (Marijuana)
· Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule II, (Methamphetamine)
· Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule I, (MDMA)
· Possession of Schedule II, (Crack Cocaine)
· Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance
· Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
· Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance in the Presence of a Juvenile
· Transactions Involving Drug Proceeds
Vallery was also wanted by the Department of Corrections for an active Probation warrant and is also actively on Parole and a detainer was placed.

Sheriff Couvillon also applauds the concerned citizens of Vermilion Parish for their awareness and assistance in helping the Task Force in fighting the war on illegal drugs.
