VERMILION VOLUNTEERS FOR FAMILY & COMMUNITY, INC. SCHOLARSHIP AVAILABLE
An undergraduate scholarship in the amount of $2,400 will be awarded to a graduating high school senior for a two year period. The scholarship is to be used while attending, on a full-time basis, an accredited college or university in Louisiana. The money is to be used for assistance with educational expenses and will be paid on a semester basis; $600.00 per semester; two semesters per year for a two year period. A letter confirming proof of registration from the registrar of the institution at which the recipient is enrolled is to be mailed to the Scholarship Chair so that funding is provided each semester.
The scholarship will cease for the following reasons: once the $2,400.00 has been used by the recipient; if the recipient is no longer a full time student; if the student changes major out of the approved list of course study, or if an overall average of 2.5 is not maintained. A probation period of one semester will be allowed if a student falls below the 2.5 average but maintains an average of 2.0 to 2.4. Funds will be suspended for one semester only and resumed provided the student acquires a 2.5 during the semester of probation. Failure to sustain a 2.5 average within one semester will cancel the remainder of the scholarship.
Each school in Vermilion Parish will receive information sheets and application forms concerning this scholarship. Information sheets and applications are available upon request from the scholarship chair.
