Vermilion Sheriff’s Office looking for woman accused of stealing purse, $1,100

According to Vermilion Parish Sheriff Mike Couvillon, Detectives are asking for the public’s assistance in attempting to identify and locate the person responsible for stealing the purse of an elderly woman on Monday afternoon April 06, 2015.
Sheriff Couvillon says that the victim had just returned home from doing business in Abbeville and as she pulled into her carport was approached by a white female advising that she (elderly woman) had a flat tire.
According to the victim as she leaned forward to turn her vehicle off the female reached over and took her purse, which contained approximately $1,100 in cash and sped off in a light colored silver or gray four door car.
Sheriff Couvillon says that Detectives are looking for a white female approximately 5’0 to 5’02” tall with short dark hair, stocky build and possibly in her 30’s.  The suspect was wearing what was described as a white tee shirt with red writing in a circle and possibly wearing khaki shorts just past her knees.
The vehicle is described as a light colored silver or gray 4-door Ford Focus possibly a 2000 to 2007 model.
Sheriff Couvillon says that investigators are working diligently to identify the person responsible for this crime and are attempting to enhance video footage of possible suspect’s vehicle.
Sheriff Couvillon is asking anyone who knows of a person fitting  this description and driving this type of vehicle to please contact the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division at 898-4403.
