Vermilion Parish sheriff warns drivers to be cautious; six accidents occurred Friday morning

According to Vermilion Parish Sheriff Mike Couvillon, motorist are urged to use extreme caution while traveling on roadways as a number of crashes have been reported due to deteriorating weather conditions.
At least six crashes on State and Parish roadways have occurred this morning in Vermilion Parish, however, no injuries were reported.
Sheriff Couvillon says that his department is working closely with DOTD and local, parish government as it relates to road conditions and at this time there are no road closures to report.
Finally, Sheriff Couvillon urges residents to stay off of roadways unless absolutely necessary, and if traveling, to do so safely with reduced speeds allowing additional time to reach destinations and to use caution especially over small bridges as icy road conditions may remain present for some time.
