The Sheriff’s Office released video footage of a vehicle possibly involved in the burglary.

Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office working vehicle burglary

According to Vermilion Parish Sheriff Mike Couvillon on Friday May 27, 2016 at approximately 8:23 a.m., the Sheriff’s Office responded to a vehicle burglary in La. Premiere Subdivision located off of La. Hwy. 699 in Vermilion Parish.
Video surveillance provided by the victim shows that at approximately 2:33 a.m. on Friday morning two subjects entered the victims unsecured black Ford F-250 and stole the following items.
1) Sig Sauer .380 semi-auto pistol
2) Medical Bag with prescription pads and important medical documents
3) Otoscope kit
4) Older model Apple I-pad
5) Wedding ring yellow and white gold
Sheriff Couvillon further states that one subject appears to be a black male with short hair and a beard with possibly a rosary and/or long necklace around his neck, the second subject appears to be a slim built white male or light skin black male wearing a ball cap. It also appears that the subjects fled the area in a four door vehicle possibly gray in color with damage to the right rear bumper and possibly a burnt and/or damaged right rear tail light.
Detectives are currently following up on information obtained thus far in the investigation and are attempting to identify and locate persons of interest.
Sheriff Couvillon says that this was the only vehicle burglary reported to the Sheriff’s Office in this area that night, but says that it appears that these individuals are simply attempting to gain entry into unsecured vehicles to obtain whatever valuables they can.
To ensure that you enhance your chances of not becoming a victim, Sheriff Couvillon strongly urges residents to take these actions now and make it a practice going forward:
1) Lock all vehicles when not in use, at all times.
2) Remove all valuables from vehicles and secure inside homes.
3) Do not leave valuables in plain view and unsecured in yards.
4) Lock your homes at all times when leaving and at all times during the night.
5) Consider installing recorded video surveillance (could be very valuable when something happens).
6) Call the Sheriff’s office on any suspicious vehicles or person in the neighborhood ALWAYS.
7) Watch each other’s homes and property closely, reporting anything suspicious.
If anyone has any information with regards to this investigations or can identify the individual(s) in these photos, please contact the Vermilion Parish Sheriffs Criminal Investigations Division at 898-4403.
