Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s deputies investigating fatal shooting

Incident occurred early Friday

At approximately 12:33 a.m. Friday morning, the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office received a call through Vermilion 911 of shots fired with injuries at a residence located off of La. Hwy. 89 in the northeastern portion of Vermilion Parish.
Upon arrival at approximately 12:38 a.m., deputies discovered that Chad LeBlanc of Loreauville had been fatally shot and that another individual was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Vermilion Parish Sheriff Mike Couvillon said that the investigation is in the early stages. Couvillon did add that witnesses reported that shortly after 12:00 a.m., two subjects, one described as a black male and one described as a white male, both wearing long-sleeve dark colored clothing, got out of the vehicle with weapons and fired several shots before fleeing south bound on La. Hwy. 89.
Investigators are attempting to obtain a better description of the shooters as well as a possible vehicle make and model.
