Vermilion Parish School Board will evaluate superintendent
Six months before the Vermilion Parish’s superintendent Jerome Puyau contract ends, the school board has decided to evaluate the superintendent.
Puyau’s four-year contract ends at the end of December of 2016.
School board member Laura LeBeouf called for a special meeting on Monday to discus board members’ written evaluations about Puyau. School board member Kibbie Pillette seconded her motion.
LeBeouf added that depending on how Puyau’s evaluation turns out, will determine if the school board will renew Puyau’s contract. LeBeouf said school board members have been having a copy of an evaluation form for the last three months and should bring it to Monday’s meeting.
The meeting will start at 6 p.m. and the public is able to attend.
Puyau said after the meeting on Wednesday that he wants his evaluation done out in the public and not behind closed doors. He is expected to speak about how the school district has improved over the last four years.
A vote of 4-2 was taken to approve a special Monday meeting.
Voting for the special meeting were LeBeouf, Sarah Duplechain, Luddy Herpin and Kibbie Pillette. Voting against it were Stacy Landry and Anthony Fontana.
School board member Chris Gautreaux was not at Wednesday’s meeting. A temporary replacement for Ricky Broussard, who resigned a couple of weeks ago, had not been sworn in.
