Vermilion Parish School Board offers two different health insurance plans

The Vermilion Parish School Board Insurance Committee accepted two different United Health Care Insurance plans presented to them by Lloyd Campisi, the school district’s insurance agent.
Campisi explained to the school board members the difference between the two plans.
School Board member Anthony Fontana, who is president of the insurance committee, said, “We wanted to keep benefits good and premiums as low as possible.”
Campisi told the committee members that the school board now has to offer two separate plans to employees because of the Affordable Care Act (Obama Care).
The two plans are: Choice Plus Plan and the Bronze Plan.
The Choice Plus Plan is going to be more expensive per month than the Bronze Plan because the benefits are better, Campisi added.
The new health insurance plan will go into effect in May.
Next month Campisi and school board officials are expected to visit each school and talk to school employees to explain to them the difference between the two plans.
The big question Campisi could not answer was how much the new plan will cost employees each month. The school board members will decide on the cost of the plans at Thursday night’s regular scheduled meeting.
He did say retired school employees will not see a rate increase in their insurance coverage.
