Vermilion Parish School Board has new president, vice president
The Vermilion Parish School Board has a new president and vice president.
Chris Gautreaux, after serving as vice president for two years, was elected as the president of the School Board recently. Stacy Landry is the vice president.
At last week’s school board meeting, Gautreaux conducted his first meeting as the new president.
“I want to thank everyone for electing me,” said Gautreaux. “Serving under Mr. Campbell for two years has made me ready to be the president. He was a good model. He was always patient in the meetings. I hope I could be as good of a president as Mr. Campbell was.”
The School Board recognized outgoing school board president Charles Campbell. They gave him a proclamation and a gavel. Gautreaux read the proclamation out loud to members of the board and the audience.
The proclamation stated Campbell has always been concerned with the welfare of the children, and employee and has helped push the education system in the parish to a higher level.
