Vermilion Parish Police Jury remains same
There are a total of 14 Vermilion Parish Police Jurors, and only three had opposition in Saturday’s election.
All three sitting police jurors were able to win their seat back.
In Abbeville, Paul Bourgeois Jr. returns for his second term as police juror. He beat Darrel Hebert 471 votes (67 percent) to 236 votes (33 percent).
“I would like to thank the voters of District 7 for re-electing me to another 4 years as their representative on the Vermilion Parish Police Jury,” Bourgeois said. “It has been an absolute pleasure to meet and visit with the voters of District 7 during my campaign for re-election. I look forward to continuing my commitment to our community and my dedication to progress for District 7 and Vermilion Parish.”
In the Kaplan area, Ronald Menard returns for his third term. He beat Leroy Hebert, 735 votes (72 percent) to 282 (28 percent).
“I would like to thank each and everyone of you who voted for me. “I also want to thank my family, friends and supporters. Also, may God bless each and everyone of y’all.”
In the North Vermilion area, Dane Hebert returns for a third term. He beat Darin Desormeaux 760 votes (56 percent) to 589 votes (44 percent).
“It has been my great honor to serve the people of District 1 for the past eight years,” Dane Hebert said. “I humbly thank you for once again placing your faith in me to continue the important job of representing you as your Police Juror. I have always known that our area is blessed with great economic and natural resources, but after meeting with many of you over the course of this campaign, I am once again reassured that the greatest asset that District 1 has is its people."
