Vermilion Parish Police Jury announces final passes for flood debris pick-up

Flood debris collection efforts throughout Vermilion Parish are approaching their final passes. All residents that were impacted by the recent flooding are strongly encouraged to finalize clean up and clean out efforts before flood debris collection comes to a close.
All flood related debris must be placed at the curb or right-of-way so the mechanical boom arms on the collection trucks can reach materials for pick up. Citizens within the parish who still require debris pick-up should call the Police Jury office at 898-4300 and provide their address so that this information can be passed on to the Debris Removal Contractor. New construction or renovation debris is the responsibility of private contractors and is not eligible for this flood related debris collection.
The flood debris contractor is picking up furniture, construction materials, household hazardous waste, large appliances and electronics. As a reminder:
• Flood affected residents are asked to combine debris piles with neighbors where possible
• Segregating household hazardous waste from other flood debris will speed up the process
• Flood debris should be placed near the street on the public right-of-way
• All debris should be clear of ditches
• For safety reasons, refrigerator and freezer doors must be secured with duct tape
• Do not place debris next to fire hydrants, water meters or electric pedestals
• Place debris at least three feet from mailboxes, trees, electrical and telephone poles
• Keep all other debris segregated from the flood debris
