Vermilion Narcotics Unit arrest one, searching for another one
According to Sheriff Mike Couvillon, the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit made the following arrest for narcotics related offenses within the parish.
Recently, agents with the Vermilion Narcotics division were conducting criminal patrol in an area that they had just made a narcotics related arrest when they observed what the believed to be a drug transaction between a person on foot and a person in a silver vehicle.
Agents moved closer to investigate and observed the silver vehicle pull away at a high rate of speed and break several traffic laws while doing so.
Agents initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and upon doing so, the driver pulled over into a yard and fled from the vehicle on foot.
Due to another occupant being inside of the vehicle, agents remained with the vehicle. In plain view on the seat where the driver fled from agents observed suspected marijuana and a .380 handgun.
The passenger identified as Gene Williams III was taken into custody and while doing so more suspected marijuana was located on the passenger seat where he was seated. A search of Mr. Williams turned up suspected crack cocaine. Agents then began a thorough search of the vehicle and located more suspected marijuana on the driver side, suspected synthetic marijuana, a .22cal pistol, a digital scale and more suspected marijuana on the passenger side. Mr. Williams was arrested and charged with Pwitd Sch I, (marijuana), Pwitd Sch II, (crack), and possession of drug paraphernalia. Agents have identified the driver as Darron Carter and warrants have been obtained for his arrest. He is actively being sought by the Vermilion Narcotics division. Anyone with any information as to Mr. Carter’s whereabouts can contact the Vermilion Narcotics Division at 337-740-4501. All information will be kept confidential.
