Vermilion Catholic names its student of the year

Vermilion Catholic High School has named its 2014-2015 Student of the Year.
The school selected Kirsten Broussard, who is the daughter of Claire Broussard.
Being named the top student at VC caught Broussard by surprise.
“When I was first told about my nomination for Student of the Year, I never thought that I would win. However, when my name was called, my heart started pounding and I was so thrilled! I consider it an amazing honor to have been chosen as Student of the Year for Vermilion Catholic.”
Broussard said she has worked hard to be where she is today, which includes having a 4.0 grade point average.
“My education is important to me. I believe it is the gateway to anything I aspire to do. With graduation approaching in four months, a new chapter in my life will begin.”
Broussard said she will start college and major in Public Relations. She job shadowed Hailey Vincent, a public relations specialist at BBR Creative in Lafayette, and admired her work.
“She’s the reason my interest for this field really sparked. I have not yet decided where I will attend college. However, I am currently participating in the dual enrollment program at UL and have been accepted to Tulane University. I also plan to apply to LSU. Wherever I decide to go, I know that my Catholic education will pave the way to a bright future.”
Vermilion Catholic School said Broussard, “Has been a model student while at Vermilion Catholic. The faculty and staff are confident of her continued academic success and wish her well.”
