Vermilion Catholic head football coach resigns

Vermilion Catholic Principal Mike Guilbeaux accepted the resignation of head football coach Russell Kuhns.
The three-year head coach is said to be moving back to the Dallas area to be closer to his family.
Kuhns, in his short time at VC, is one of only two VC head coaches to win a state title. In 2013, in his first year, his team posted a 14-0 record and the Eagles won the first-ever Class A Select State Title in New Orleans.
In three years under his tenure, VC has posted a 33-6 record and won three district titles.
Guilbeaux said the position is open as of Thursday. Coaches need to call the school or athletic director Kim Guidry if interested for the position.
No hiring time table was given by Guilbeaux.
Football players are working out at this time and will start practice in August. T
