Two qualify for District 49 State Representative seat

There will be two people running for the District 49 State Representative seat next month.
Qualifying ended Friday and Blake Miguez from New Iberia and John Bering from Jeanerette qualified to run.
Bering ran against and lost to Simone Champagne three years ago.
These two men, both Republicans, are running for Simone Champagne’s old seat.
Champagne stepped down in December after serving the district for seven years. She has one year left on her term.
The winner of this election will only be able to serve for a year and then will have to run again in a regular election in 2016.
