Sounds on the Square today in Abbeville
A local act will be front and center this evening when the Envies take the stage for Sounds on the Square.
Serving as the setting will be Magdalen Square in downtown Abbeville. The event will kick off at 5:30 p.m., wrapping up around 9 p.m.
Sponsored by the city, the event is free to the public.
“We invite everyone to come out and enjoy some good music and beautiful weather,” Abbeville Main Street Manager Charlene Beckett said.
As for the music, the sounds will be a mixture of Cajun, classic country and classic rock.
The Envies consists of four educators that have come together as friends and musicians and have found music to be a great stress relief and a way to get families and friends together.
The group consists of Ryan Abshire on guitar, accordion, and vocals; Gerard Couvillion on lead guitar and vocal; and Charles Guardia on Bass and Vocals and Paul Landry on drums. Jason Harrington, lead man for the Specklers, is joining in tonight on fiddle.
There will be two more Thursdays for Sounds on the Square after tonight.
Donny Broussard and the Louisiana Stars will be next up on Thursday, Oct. 23. Closing the fall season on Thursday, Nov. 6 will be 5th Avenue.
Proceeds from refreshment sales will benefit “Save the Franks.”
“It’s going to be a great atmosphere and we encourage everyone to come out and have a good time,” Beckett said.
