QSA All-Stars fall in the first game of World Series
The QSA 8-and-under All-Stars opened up the Coach-Pitch Pinto World Series with a 10-8 loss to Aledo, Texas on Wednesday in Youngsville.
QSA was back in action Thursday night in an elimination game against another Texas team. The loser of that game goes home. The game was still in action when the Meridional went to press.
In Wednesday’s loss, QSA had success hitting the baseball. The reason for the loss, however, was that Aledo hit the ball just a little bit better when the game was on the line.
Aledo jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning but QSA answered by scoring two runs.
QSA had three hits in the inning, including an RBI-double by Jackson Trahan and an RBI-single by Drew Dronet.
Aledo stormed right back and extended its lead 4-2 in the top of the second inning.
But QSA came back by putting together a 3-run inning and taking a 5-4 lead.
Jarkata Grogan Jr. led off the inning with a single and Conner Gondron followed with a double.
With runners on second and third, Aiden Broussard smacked a 2-run double that tied the game, 4-4.
He would advance to third base and later scored when Logan Toups slapped a single.
QSA had two doubles and two singles in the second inning. After two innings, six of QSA’s first nine batters had hits.
Aledo took the lead 6-5 in the top of the third frame but QSA bounced back and tied it 6-6.
Alexander “Zoobie” Marceaux picked his second hit of the game when he led off the third inning with a double but he would get thrown out later in the inning.
Dronet, who had a double in the first inning, hit an in-the park home run that tied the game 6-6.
Aledo bounced back with two runs in the top of the fifth inning.
QSA trimmed the lead to one run, 7-8, with the help of an error. Logan Toups singled and would later score. Marceaux picked up his third hit of the game but would be left stranded.
Then came the final inning.
Aledo had three hits in the inning, including a 2-RBI triple to put the Texas team ahead 10-7.
QSA, in its last at bat, could only get one run back.
Dronet, who almost hit for the cycle, had a single to go along with his home run and a double in the game.
Bryce Lege moved him over with a single. Landon Toups scored Dronet with a single.
QSA had runners on the corners with one out but could not bring them home.
QSA finished the game with 14 hits. Marceaux and Dronet combined for six of the 14 hits.
