QSA 8-and-under All-Stars surprise many with second place finish

What a difference a year made.
A year ago this month the QSA 8-and-under All-Stars competed in the Pinto Super Region, and it did not go so well.
The team went 0-2 and was home early.
They qualified for the super region a year ago by finishing third in the zone tournament.
Fast forward to this year.
Once again, QSA finished third in the zone tournament to qualify for the super region once again.
Their goal was to do better than a year ago by stick around for more than two games.
Well, they did exactly what they wanted and then some.
The 8s, made up of boys from Vermilion Parish, reached the finals of the Pinto Super Region Tournament on Tuesday night in Youngsville.
They had to be beat Loreauville twice in order to win the tournament.
After falling behind 7-0 after two innings, QSA rallied to make it a close game, but ran out of innings, falling 12-9.
By finishing in the top two, QSA still qualified for Pinto World Series next week. They will play Wednesday against a Texas team.
The World Series will be held in Youngsville.
QSA Head Coach Brent Trahan was proud of his team.
“It is awesome to have this experience, to make it to the World Series,” said Trahan. “We are so proud of the players for accomplishing what they have accomplished.”
