Pastor to perform, preach in the middle of Abbeville’s ‘Front’
At least four people have been murdered and a group of others have been shot in a two-mile radius of the Tikki Lounge in Abbeville. That active gunfire is enough of a reason why an Abbeville man wants to preach in the section known as the “Front.”
Saturday night, Lawrence Levy III is leading what is tagged a “State of Emergency” Concert. It’s a religious concert with a variety of musicians playing in the Tikki Lounge. He met with Abbeville Police Chief Tony Hardy on Tuesday about the event.
“This event is to wake up the hope of our city,” said Lawrence. “The club is a place where you can capture a major percentage of the ones who can change the city.”
Levy has turned his life around after getting caught up in the drug scene in Abbeville when he was younger. He served time in jail and now is trying to tell everyone who he meets how God changed his life. Levy now preaches to whoever will listen, including students and adults.
“I am not your average pastor from a religious standpoint,” he said. “Never do you hear about pastors going into bars and night clubs. Saturday I am not going to point fingers or remind anyone of their wrong but rather they can still be used by God.
“This is not a church event. It’s a love, hope, and peace event.”
