New Vermilion Parish economic director is an Abbeville native

The newly created Vermilion Parish Economic Development Board went national in its search for a new executive director. After a long search, they hired an Abbeville native.
On Monday, Anne Falgout signed a one-year contract and was hired as the new executive director of the Vermilion Parish Economic Development District (VPEDD).
The 1999 Vermilion Catholic graduate is the daughter of Jerry and Kathie Terpening, and the granddaughter of the late Bichon Toups and his wife Olga.
Falgout is no stranger to Acadiana and trying to attract businesses to locate in the area.
Prior to being hired, she served as the Director of Market Intelligence at the Lafayette Economic Development Authority (LEDA).
She is very familiar with the Vermilion Chamber of Commerce and the Tourism Department.
“I think it is going to be a challenge, but it is going to be an exciting challenge,” said Falgout.
Her office is on the first floor of the Old Hibernia building on Charity Street in Abbeville.
She has an assistant, Sheri Cormier, who will be in the building five days a week, until 2 p.m. The phone number to the office is 740-0433.
The parishwide economic development district is supported by financial contributions from municipalities and entities in the parish.
“Vermilion Parish is a key player in Acadiana’s economy,” she said. “It is full of history and potential. I look forward to being a part of the team that guides our parish into continued success,” said Falgout.
