Dedrick Maze will spend 15 years in prison.

Murder charges dropped; Abbeville's Maze agrees to plea agreement

Two years ago Dedrick Maze was first charged with second degree murder for the alleged killing of Jacolby Walker.
It was eventually lowered to manslaughter.
Last week, after reaching a plea agreement with the state, Maze will spend the next 15 years in prison but not for murdering Walker.
The state dropped the manslaughter charge and two counts of obstruction of justice charge if Maze would agree to accept a plea of “no contest” for the charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
By accepting the plea, Maze will get 15 years in prison.
Last year, Maze went to trial for the manslaughter charge, but the judge ruled the trial a mistrial.
Maze was first being charged with allegedly shooting 23-year-old Joecolby Walker multiple times in the back of Walker’s home on Lyman Street in Abbeville.
Walker’s death occurred in 2012, that year there were six murders in Abbeville.
