Meeting still on for North Vermilion parents
Platooning will be occurring at North Vermilion High School this month and next because of an unfinished middle school.
On Monday the meeting gets underway at 6:30 p.m. in North Vermilion gymnasium.
At the meeting, parents and students of both NV Middle and NV High School will learn how the new platooning schedule will work.
The first week, NV Middle School students will attend school Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The high school students will go Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
The schedule will flip the next week.
For the last 18 months, contractors have been building a brand new middle school behind North Vermilion High School.
The reason for the middle school is because of overcrowding at North Vermilion High School.
The new middle school will house sixth, seventh and eighth grade students.
Once the middle school is built, it will be the first time sixth, seventh and eighth grade students from the North Vermilion area will be under the same school roof.
Before the middle school, sixth graders were going to Meaux Elementary, Maurice Elementary and Indian Bayou.
