Louisiana Cattle Festival Stampede 5K Run takes over downtown Abbbeville

A stampede of athletes ran through the streets of downtown Abbeville, early Saturday morning, for the 2014 Louisiana Cattle Festival Stampede 5K run (3.12 miles). First place, Male Open Winner, went to Keith Savoy, 54, of Church Point, with a time of 22:20.0. First place, Female Open Winner, went to Lizzy Lapointe, 29, of Lafayette, with a time of 22:53:9.
“It went well,” said Bridget Suire, event organizer. “We hope to expand next year and to have even more participants.”
Clear blue skies and cool autumn breezes contributed to ideal weather conditions.
Cattle Festival President Francis Plaisance presented medals to winners in the following categories:

Female 15-19
1st place, Megan Hebert, 17, Abbeville (24.23.0).

Male 20-29
1st place, Dalton Howe, 24, Abbeville (22.59.0); and 2nd place, Scotty Segura, 29, Abbeville (31.31.2).

Female 30-39
1st place, Kristin Brasseaux, 32, Abbeville (26.32.9).

Male 30-39
1st place, Travis Werner, 35, Abbeville (23:32.9).

Female 40-49
1st place, Lisa Williams, 42, Abbeville (25:29.2); 2nd place, Alison Miller, 41, Erath (28:06.6); and 3rd place, Shannon Simon, 40, Kaplan (43.12.2).

Male 40-49
1st place, Craig Miller 43, Erath (28:04.7).

Female 50-59
1st place, Lisa Strauss, 58, Broussard (37.37.0); 2nd place Leslie Godchaux, 56, Abbeville (37:41.2); 3rd place, and Anita Levy, 57, Abbeville (53:43.1).

Male 50-59
1st place, Jason Connor, 52, Erath (24:17.7); and 2nd place, Carl David, 58, Church Point, (25:02.2).

Male 60 and Over
1st place, Louis Maraist, 70, Lafayette (26:44.6); and 2nd place, Ed Mulderick, 65, Lafayette (43:09.0).

Todd Delahousaye with Cajun Timing provided timing services. The computer software program he uses is “Race Director,” he said. In addition, Abbeville General Hospital provided a booth with healthy snacks for the runners. Anytime Fitness provided warm-up stretching and exercises, as well as healthy snacks.
Abbeville City Police and Beta Club members from Abbeville High School also provided route assistance for the runners.
