LeBlanc retires from Vermilion Parish Police Jury after 33 years
Sunday marked the end of a 33-year career with the Vermilion Parish Police Jury for Ricky LeBlanc.
LeBlanc is officially retired as of this past weekend.
He started his career at the solid waste facility in 1981 where he served in different capacities of the landfill.
“I want to thank the Good Lord for getting me through all of these years and to my wife, Jodie, who always stood by my side, encouraging me to keep going and get the work and job done,” said LeBlanc.
Over the years, his jobs included heavy equipment operator, incinerator and shredder mill operator to gate guard inspections and office manager.
In 1999, he was promoted as solid waste superintendent, making him responsible for the five major departments; including the landfill, house to house garbage collection, grab truck yard waste collection, commercial business collection and the recycling program.
This past March he was honored as the “Outstanding Landfill Operator of the Year” for Louisiana.
LeBlanc said he would like to thank all those who he worked with in the police jury system and the many police jurors themselves, along with the courthouse administration and the fellow parish supervisors.
Others he thanked were solid waste employees, who helped him get the job done, mayors and councilmen from the different municipalities.
His final “thank you” was to the people of Vermilion Parish.
“To the people of Vermilion Parish, it was a pleasure to serve you and help you with your trash and garbage collection and disposal needs.
“It has been a good 33 year-career. May the God we all serve, bless you all.”
