Koryn putting Abbeville on the map each time she wins on "The Voice"
As Koryn Hawthorne on “The Voice” continues to win, so does Abbeville.
Koryn, who is from Abbeville, has reached the final 8 on the NBC singing show, “The Voice.”
The name “Abbeville” is said at least four times each night when Koryn is introduced and is finished singing.
If Koryn reaches the Top 5, NBC is looking to visit Abbeville and do a feature on the town and the town’s reaction to Koryn reaching the Top 5. She will be able to return to Abbeville at the beginning of May, which would also give the parish a chance for everyone to meet her.
Charlene Beckett, Abbeville’s Main Street Manger, said, “She is already a winner and Abbeville is very excited to give her a huge hometown welcome!”
When she reaches Top 5, the meet and greet will take place early May in Magdalen Square. Abbeville is also looking at throwing her a parade.
“It is, however, very important that we continue to support her and vote, vote, vote, so that she can make it to the final five and beyond,” she said.
Merchants and residents throughout Acadiana are joining the Koryn Team by placing signs in their yards or wishing Koryn well on their business sign.
There are at least 10 businesses in Abbeville who wish Koryn good luck on their signs. There are also a handful of businesses in Lafayette and New Iberia who are also joining the Koryn Team and wishing her well with “Go Koryn” or “Good Luck Koryn” signs.
Koryn, who attends Lighthouse Christian Academy, is also getting local schools’ support. Abbeville High has “Vote Koryn.” Harvest Time, not far from Abbeville High, has “Vote for Koryn Hawthorne Team Koryn.”
Some residents in Vermilion Parish are throwing “Koryn” parties on Monday and Tuesday. She will sing on Monday between the hours of 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. on NBC. Then America will vote and on Tuesday, Acadiana will find out if Koryn moves into the top 7.
