Kaplan Police arrest Abbeville man in connection to accident that knocked out natural gas flow to city

KAPLAN — An arrest has been made in connection with last Sunday;s early morning accident that damaged the City of Kaplan’s natural gas regulator station.
Roderick Rice, 23, of 110 Maude Ave. in Abbeville was arrested by the Kaplan Police, and charged with one count of reckless operation of a vehicle, one count of criminal mischief for filing a false report stating his vehicle had been stolen and felony hit and run.
Bond was set at $500 each for the first two counts and $40,000 for the felony count.
Kaplan Police were assisted by the Abbeville Police Department.
The accident caused more than 2,500 residents to go without gas service to their home for four days.
