Kaplan man arrested and charged with attemped murder

According to Kaplan Chief of Police Boyd Adams, a Kaplan man was arrested last night at approximately 10 p.m. after firing shots at another individual on the 400 block of Frederick Street in Kaplan.
Shaylon Trevonne Alexander, 28, of 411 N. Frederick, was arrested and charged with eight counts of attempted second degree murder, one count of attempted murder, one count of attempted first degree murder of a police officer, DWI second offense, aggravated flight from an officer, and seven counts of illegal discharge of a firearm.
The victim was not hit, but several rounds went into the victim’s vehicle.
When officers attempted to stop Alexander, he tried to run over an officer and the victim.
Adams stated the suspect fled the area in a vehicle. After a short chase, the suspect was arrested. He is currently incarcerated in the Kaplan city jail.
Judge Stanton Hardee ordered he be held without bond until the police officer's affidavit can be reviewed, then an appropriate bond will be set.
