Information leads to arrest after elderly woman’s purse stolen earlier this week

According to Vermilion Parish Sheriff Michael Couvillon on Thursday, April 9, Vermilion Parish Civil Division received information regarding the simple robbery involving an elderly female that occurred Monday afternoon at her residence.
Sheriff Couvillon states that the Vermilion Parish Detective Division proceeded forward with the information and also was able to enhance video footage which led to the arrest of Kristy Lege, 37, of 1300 West 6th. Street, Kaplan.
Lege was arrested on Simple Robbery with no bond set as of this time. Lege was also arrested on an outstanding warrant for Simple Burglary with a bond of $20,000.
The investigation is ongoing and further arrests may be possible.
Sheriff Couvillon commends the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office for an outstanding job and also commends them for continuously working together as a team.
