Gueydan teen killed in single car accident

Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office responded to a fatal single vehicle crash Friday night just after 8 p.m.

According to Sheriff Mike Couvillion, 18-year-old Kaitlyn Elizabeth Thevis of Gueydan was driving south on Alvie Road when for reasons unknown she lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle struck a ditch and flipped over.

The front passenger,17-year-old Kaitlin Elizabeth Venissat of Gueydan, was ejected and sustained fatal injuries. Thevis and a third occupant were not injured in the accident.

Louisiana State police is assisting VPSO with the ongoing investigation.

Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in the crash.
