Forked Island woman loads up two baskets at Super Market Sweep in Abbeville

Jennifer Suire knew what she wanted before she began her 90-second run in the annual North Vermilion High Super Market Sweep Tuesday morning.
She had 90 seconds to load up as many shopping baskets as possible.
Suire, who is from Forked Island, was running in place of her son, Marshall, who had won the first place ticket but was working offshore.
Marshall made a few suggestions to his mother on what items to get. Tops on his list was frozen pizza. No problem. She grabbed about eight frozen pizzas for her son.
Her first choice, however, was liquid detergent. She tossed in around six large
liquid detergent plastic bottles.
Then she went to the isle with coffee. She tossed in around 30 one-pound bags of Community Coffee.
The final isle was canned beans. She placed cases of beans in her basket as time ran out.
After 90-seconds, she had two baskets full of cooking oil, coffee, pizza and canned vegetables.
The two baskets of the items totaled $669. Robies donated a $100 gift card to purchase meat, bringing her total to $769.
“I was more nervous than anything,” said Suire after it was over. “It went a lot faster than I thought.”
