Fishing for Memories raises $25K changes date for ‘17

Proceeds from Fishing for Memories were donated to the Alzheimer’s Association Tuesday, September 27th at the Abbeville Harbor and Terminal Board meeting. The $25,000 big check from the 2016 rodeo takes the eight-year total to $275,000 raised for the cause.
Carrick, Holly and Pierce Boffy, event founders and organizers, and Tricia Ory, Associate Director Louisiana Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, joined members of the Abbeville Harbor and Terminal Board for the check presentation.
Fishing for Memories 2016 was held June 23 to June 26 at the Abbeville Harbor & Terminal Public Boat Launch. Over 500 anglers participated in the event with $9,800 going to the first, second and third place winners in each of the 14 categories and 4 lifetime fishing licenses going to first place winners in the youth division. The master sponsor this year was Upland Services, Inc.
Carrick Boffy said, “We appreciate the Abbeville Harbor & Terminal Board, sponsors, volunteers and anglers for continuing to make the event possible. We had another great year and look forward to an even better year in 2017. Our 2017 rodeo will be June 1 to 4 to hopefully coincide with red snapper season.”
The Alzheimer’s Association is the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer’s care, support and research.
