Father/son from Vermilion Parish team-up to sing at Stellar Gospel Music Awards

Lawrence Levy Jr. has spent the last six years catching up for lost time with his son, Lawrence (Trey) Levy III. The older Levy is doing that by teaming-up and singing alongside of his 16-year-old son.
The older Levy spent five years in prison. When he went into prison, his son was 5. When Levy got out of prison, Trey was 10 years old.
Fast forward to today and the two have formed a father, son duo who sing positive inspirational gospel music to the young crowd and anyone else who wants to listen.
“Having my son on my side makes it a whole lot easier,” said Levy. “His youth helps draw attention to the youth.”
Levy also admits his son is a better singer than he is.
The two just returned from Nashville after performing their music at the 29th Annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards. The Levys performed at a fashion show and a side show at the Stella Award Show.
Levy said just to be at the show was an honor, but to sing, was outstanding, he added. He and his son met people in the gospel industry who they hope will help advance their careers.
After others heard the father/son duo sing in Nashville, Levy said his phone began ringing with people wanting to book them for performances.
In all, the two have nine events in Florida, Mississippi and Houston and other states.
“It went better than I expected,” said Levy, who also does motivational speaks and is a youth pastor. “I went to get our name out there and have people hear us. It worked.
“It was a major experience for both of us.”
