Erath students going back to school on Thursday

ERATH - Erath students are going back to school Thursday morning despite the town of Erath still under a boil water advisory.
Erath High, Erath Middle and Dozier Elementary schools will be in session.
They have been off of school since Tuesday after the town went under a water boil advisory since Friday. A water valve broke, and the water had to be shut off while it was repaired.
DEQ requires nine water samples to be taken to make sure the water is safe to drink after the water is put back on-line. On Tuesday, eight out of nine of Erath’s water samples passed.
The town is expected to get a new test result after lunch today on that one water sample that failed on Tuesday.
It takes 24 hours before test results are determined.
The Vermilion Parish School Board has made arrangements to provide bottled water, box lunches and hand sanitizers for students and will continue to do so until the boil advisory is lifted, which may by noon.
