Erath man found in burning house dies; he donates his organs

ERATH - Donald Romero of Erath was taken off life support Monday and pronounced dead not long afterwards.
Romero, who was an organ donor, was put on life support after he was rushed to a local hospital after he was found on the floor in his burning house this past Friday.
His house on Bourque Street in Erath caught fire and firemen were on scene and they learned he was inside.
After removing him from the smoking house, CPR was started and medical personnel were able to get a pulse and him breathing on his own.
Erath Police Chief Gerald Hebert said he spoke with family members who said a positive will come from his tragic death by him donating his organs.
Hebert added early indication is that the fire is to have been caused by electrical.
No funeral arrangements had been made as of Tuesday morning.
