Contractors break a 2-inch gas line near downtown Abbeville

Contractors replacing gas lines under the streets of Abbeville reportedly broke a two-inch gas line Monday around 3:45 p.m.
The fire department arrived on scene and learned the gas line was at the corner of South Washington Street and Lafayette Street. Fire trucks blocked off roads near the leak.
Some residents had to be evacuated because of the gas leak. It was not known what time the leak will be turned off.
