Chemistry challenge from DOW Chemical for Vermilion Parish students/teachers

Dow Chemical is sponsoring “You Be the Chemist Challenge.” The Weeks Island DOW Chemical Plant is offering to host a Vermilion Parish School System challenge.
You Be the Chemist Challenge (YBTC) is a national challenge that focuses on chemistry in the classroom. Dow furnishes YBTC jump drives to teachers who are interested along with printing the study guides and qualifying exams for students.
After holding study sessions, a qualifying exam is given and the top 30 students in Vermilion, grades 6-8 compete at their local challenge
The top three win prizes like an Ipad mini and Dr. Dre Beats. Then those top students move on to the state challenge in late April. Teachers will also receive classroom grants to use for STEM materials in their schools.
