Another Abbeville High football coach leaving

Another football coach is leaving Abbeville High School.
Second year AHS assistant coach Travis Blaize informed Ivy Landry on Wednesday that he is leaving Abbeville High to become the defensive coordinator at Comeaux High School in Lafayette.
He will coach under former Erath head football coach Doug Dotson, who is the new head football coach at Comeaux High School.
Travis Blaize is the son of Ossie Blaize, who quit Abbeville High last month for a coaching job at Vermilion Catholic High School.
Travis Blaize was also the head soccer coach at AHS.
On Tuesday, Landry was told by head football coach Chris Towery that he has accepted an assistant football coaching job at a high school in Houston. Towery plans to remain at AHS for another week or two.
In two years as head coach, Towery compiled a 1-19 record.
He replaced Larry Breaux, who was there for three years.
So, three coaches have left the football program in a month at Abbeville, creating three job openings.
On Wednesday, the teaching slot and head football coaching job at AHS became open. It will close next Wednesday.
Principal Landry said he has received phone calls about the job opening, and he has had visits from assistant coaches who are interested in the job.
Principal Landry said he is looking for a young coach who is excited to be a head coach, especially at Abbeville High. He does not expect to get an applicant who is already a head football coach at another school because of the time of year.
Football practice will begin in the next three weeks and the regular season starts the first Friday in September.
So, who are the coaches still on staff at Abbeville High School?
There are three assistant coaches, who coached last year and one volunteer coach, who are expected to return this football season.
Ray Fabacher Jr. is starting his second year as an assistant football coach. He coached the defensive line and is also the new head baseball coach. He has the most experience as an assistant, because he coached at West Monroe before moving to Abbeville High.
Then there are two young assistant coaches, who are two years out of college.
Brad Armentor, a recent LSU grad, joined Abbeville last year. He coached the wide receivers.
Jared Robicheaux is a recent UL graduate, who also joined the staff last year.
Rob Roy, who is not on staff, is a volunteer tight end coach. This will be his second year at AHS.
