Animal Aid of Vermilion awarded $8,600

The BISSELL Pet Foundation™, supported in part by BISSELL Homecare, Inc., has awarded $8,600 to the Animal Aid for Vermilion Area to support their life-saving efforts. Funds will be used to spay/neuter pets and provide heartworm treatment to 14 foster dogs.
“With literally millions of homeless pets euthanized every year in the U.S., we focus on funding programs that will do the most to change this heartbreaking outcome,” explains Cathy Bissell, Founder of the BISSELL Pet Foundation. “It brings me and my team so much joy to know we are helping to save the lives of thousands of animals through these grant awards.”
Established in 2011 by Cathy Bissell, a devoted pet lover and advocate, the BISSELL Pet Foundation addresses the growing problem of displaced, unwanted and homeless pets by providing assistance to shelter and rescue programs, and by creating awareness about pet overpopulation, in the hopes of finding every pet a loving home. Since its inception, the foundation has given more than $2 million in support to organizations like the Animal Aid for Vermilion Area.
Animal Aid for Vermilion Area is a non-profit organization whose main objective is to rescue, rehabilitate, and find new homes for the unwanted animals of the Vermilion
River Area in southeast Louisiana. Their goal is to have fewer unwanted pets end up at high kill shelters and to save the life of every healthy adoptable pet that does. They accomplish this by educating the public on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets and informing them of local and state animal cruelty laws
“Animal Aid for Vermilion Area is very grateful to the BISSELL Pet Foundation for this wonderful grant” said Charity Navarre, Fundraising Coordinator for the Animal Aid for Vermilion Area. “This money will enable us to spay, neuter and heartworm treat many homeless animals in our area and get them on their journey to a forever home.”
