Abbeville police seize mobile home
The Abbeville Police have warned the owner of the property at 700 E. Oak Street, off Graceland Avenue to stop the criminal activity on the property or else.
Well, the criminal activity allegedly continued and the Abbeville Police enforced the “or else.”
On Wednesday morning, the police department took control of the property, which contains an empty mobile home, a shed and two wrecked cars.
The police posted “no trespassing signs” around the property and a seizure notification on a wooden fence.
They also put yellow crime tape around the land to prevent anyone from going on the property.
Lt. David Hardy said the property owner has been warned many of times to pay attention and stop the alleged criminal activity taking place on E. Oak Street.
“We notified the property owner that something needed to be done,” said Lt. Hardy. “We wanted the owner to keep people off the property.”
The mobile home has not been lived in more than a couple of months. The inside looked to be in the process of being remolded.
Lt. Hardy said a seizure form was completed and a judge signed it. “Now that the city has the property, we can control who goes on the property and what takes place.”
The seizure will have to go through the court system before the city takes full control of the property.
