Abbeville Police respond to singe-vehicle accidnet

Based on an Abbeville Police Department accident report, Curvis Joseph Broussard Jr. of Abbeville was not aware of his surroundings after he hit a cement curb and then a telephone pole, flipping the Dodge van he was driving this past weekend.
Broussard was involved in a single-vehicle accident at the intersection of Meaux’s Lane and North Lafitte Road (by Walgreens) in Abbeville.
The accident occurred at 1:45 p.m. on Sunday.
The report states that Broussard was injured and brought to Abbeville General by Acadian Ambulance.
The officer questioned Broussard at the hospital and Broussard told the officer that he was in Lafayette, and he had made a wrong turn coming from the north Vermilion area. The officer stated in his report that he was unable to determine if he meant the north side of Vermilion Parish or North Vermilion High School. Broussard was unable to provide any other information on how the crash occurred.
The report did say that Broussard looked to be in a “highly intoxicated state.”
The officer could not determine if Broussard’s vehicle was traveling north or south of North Lafitte Road.
As of Monday, it was not known if Broussard was still in the hospital.
